Kandi Technologies announced a 1-for-10 reverse stock split at 4:05 PM ET. $KNDI is -8.07% after hours.
Do the division. A float of about 70M shares becomes about 7M. A company the profile values near $66M is the same company the morning after the split; each share just carries ten times the weight. A split adds no customer and removes no liability.
So the -8% is not the split itself. It is the market's guess at what the split is for, and the release title does not say why.
#AGMH sits at the other end of the same rulebook tonight, +10.78% on a Nasdaq letter confirming it complies with the listing rules. One company reports that it passed. The other changes its share count and leaves the reason out of the headline.
The ratio is the only number in the title. The reason is not in it.
