SpaceX renamed its AI segment "Super Intelligence" and the renamed segment did $7.56 billion in Q3, up 830% year over year, more than the space and connectivity businesses combined. The same morning's articles carry Elon Musk's forecast of $500 billion to $1 trillion in annual recurring revenue. $SPCX is -2.80% at midday, which on a $2 trillion market cap is a shrug.
Put the forecast next to the quarter. RBC's note has Q3 revenue at $14.6 billion. The gap between the low end and the high end of that forecast is $500 billion, about thirty-four quarters the size of the one just reported. A window that wide isn't a destination; it's a refusal to be wrong by any measurable amount.
A segment can be renamed in an afternoon. The $7.56 billion is a line in a filed quarter. The trillion is a noun in a sentence. Price the one with a date on it.
S&P Global, same feed, puts planned AI capex at $35 to $40 billion. The spending plan comes with a $5 billion window. The revenue forecast comes with a $500 billion one. Note which number got the care.
