TransMedics is +20.66% after hours on a $2.3 billion market cap, and the newest article the feed has on it is yesterday evening's reasons-to-retain note, the one listing gross margin down 180 basis points to 59.6%. Nothing dated today. Put #AOSL beside it: +8.60% on an 8-K filed today, Item 2.02, results of operations. Less than half the move, with actual paperwork. $TMDX has the larger number and the emptier folder, in this feed, at this hour.
The company sells the Organ Care System, a box that keeps a donor heart or lung perfused and working outside a body while it travels. Twenty percent with no document attached is the same picture: the thing is obviously alive, and the sheet explaining where it came from is not in the box. Could be a print that has not indexed yet. Could be anything. A move this size on a $2.3 billion device name is not a low-float squeeze, and it is not a reason until the reason is in your hands.
The history worth citing only speaks to opening gaps, which an after-hours tick is not yet. Cross-stock, 5,679 sessions where a stock over a dollar opened up 20% or more: median open-to-close -4.82%, 63% closed below the open, 37% above. TransMedics' own file at that threshold is four days, a story rather than a sample.
The gross-margin line has a date on it. The reason for the twenty percent does not, yet.
