FuelCell Energy ($FCEL) is charging up the board, gaining 25% today after securing $49M in EXIM financing. It reads like a clean, fundamentally backed breakout.
But the historical tape tells a completely different story. Out of more than 4,800 identical catalyst-driven gap-ups above 20%, the setups close in the red 62% of the time. Even $FCEL itself, across 22 prior gap-up days of 5% or more, has faded to the red 59% of the time. The market is highly efficient at pricing in the PR at 9:30 AM, leaving late-joining chase-orders as pure exit liquidity.
The historical edge says this fade is highly probable by mid-week — we'll be here tracking the receipt.
